| I'm still alive, don't worry. No one really uses this thing anymore and with everything that's been going on I just don't feel like updating. Maybe one day i'll get back to using this more...but not anytime soon.
I guess a brief update.... somehow...
I miss home, everyone keeps popping up in my dreams, which is pretty much every night now. It sucks that I won't see most of my family until mid July. My parents will be here mid June when I finish. One of my sisters will be here the beginning of July sometime and the rest I won't see until after mid July. Thank God for my family in Sicily. I think life would be even harder here if I didn't have them. And i'm glad I made another friend in Sicily, she's awesome and so much fun and i'm excited to hang out w/ her again. When I went down for carnevale I only got to see her once. Her mom got me sick and then Tiziana got sick the same day I did. But thank goodness for my family and friends down there and being able to have a life there. I also got to see my friend, Elisabetta, who I met almost 11 yrs ago. I was happy that we hung out more than once. Our timing has been so off the last few yrs. I'll be back down there for easter, bet the 19th and 25th of march. Hopefully the week before I will be going back to Rome. I realized the other day that I haven't been there since Thanksgiving break, which is waaaaay too long. I definitely miss being in Rome....no doubt. Too bad I didn't have the option of studying there. I'm tired of being in Florence. I still have a loooot to see and i WILL see it all (or the important things anyway) before I go back home. Between being in a polluted city, the rude and mostly egoistic florentines, who all hog the sidewalk that's about 2 ft wide... yea, it's great. YES, I'm happy but I'm just not a city girl. It's great for a few days.
Today was an absolutely gorgeous day, warm, sunny... It definitely made me happy to know that spring is coming and that soon we will be back outside w/ out jackets. I'm tired and have been sicne I woke up. It's been like this the last few days, no explanation for it.
I miss home, a lot...like i've said. I miss my friends, I miss my family, driving, my "life"... I can't believe 6 months has gone by since I left home, well just about anyway, and that I have 3 1/2 months to go here. AS SOON AS I'M DONE here i'll be going to Sicily and spending time w/ the family and w/ my friends and be spending time by the pool, at the beach, w/ my sister and bro in law when the come, and of course helping to fix the house... lots of work to do...eeeeew. All the mold, it's gross... If the roofers would have come when they were supposed to we wouldn't have this problem now would we.
Well, I'm not really sure I feel like updating anymore. I'm going to finish up here and then start to make my way home soon.
Later kids

| It seems like forever ago that I updated but it really hasn't been that long.
So, we're almost at the end of October already, it's really incredible how time flies. If I hadn't had to change my flight I'd be down in Sicily right now. I got my ticket at the end of Sept, and I specifically made it to leave on a Friday since I know we don't have classes Fridays. Well, proved me wrong. They suddenly moved one of my exams, Traslation, to Friday. Well, I was pretty pissed. I had to go to the travel agency and I did, almost right away. I don't like my teacher all that much and I had a feeling I wouldn't be able to move my exam a day earlier... but I tired. She was a total bitch about it and handled it quite unprofessionally in my opinion. That was what made me more upset. I would have never, ever handled a situation like that in the way she did. So, now, 218euro extra, am going down Tuesday, the 30th and staying 6 days instead of 3. So, I guess it all works out in the end. I leave at 6:40pm and will get there at 8:05. I'll be missing my 2 wed classes and then i'll be back on Monday at 11am, which means i'll be missing my morning class at the University but i'll be back in time to go to Scrittura (my writing class).
I cut my hair again, it's short, and it's also red but NOT like last year...it's SO much better. I LOVE IT! Lindsay, one of the girls in our group is awesome at cutting hair.
Caitlin P came last weekend and I got to hang out w/ her and meet new people.
Right now I have 2 people next to me, one that is talking loudly on the computer to whoever and has a webcam and always makes these strange movements and the other who's got a friend with him and keeps looking over here, ugh. just gave him a stare back. Whatever.
I went to a museum yesterday w/ the lovely Gwen. We went to San Marco (I think it was San Marco...) and we also went to the church and on the way out the Priest talked to us when we walked out, it was funny but it was something to smile about.
Exams were this past week (the reason why I could leave Florence on Friday). Some went well and others I have doubts about. I felt pretty good about Michelangelo after all that studying that I did... I'll find all my grades out this week. I'm anxious.
I don't think much more has happened... pretty much same old. Oh, total weight loss is now 20 pounds as of this morning. It's a great feeling. It all came off so fast when I got here and of course now it's coming off slower, but that's ok.
As I said i'm excited about going down to Sicily. I will see my friends, at least some, and see Elisabetta who I haven't seen since last summer! I will see new things, like the new malls and hopefully go see a movie. I will get to spend lots of time w/ Ema, who unfortunately I saw very little of me this summer. She will be excited to have me down there and I will obviously be ecstatic to get to play w/ her and hold her. Although, she's not as "holdable" as she was a short time ago. Can't believe she's gonna be 4 already. I remember when I first came for Christmas for her baptism, and how tiny she was and the first time I held her. It was truly precious. And the times after that like last summer when she and I would nap together...I'd put her asleep and then i'd end up napping myself...i'd be lying on my back and she would lay w/ her belly facing down and just pass out as we would watch Little Einstiens on Playhouse Disney. Then there was this one time we were at my aunt's house and I was in the rocking chair and I was holding her, rocking back and forth, and she just passed out. Oh man, such precious moments you know?
Well, the hand is tired now. After this it's back to the hw *sigh* and then we are going out to dinner.
*side note* I'm really happy w/ the housing situation this year. I mean, last year wasn't bad there were just too many of us in one apt. But I still feel like it's going to be a good year. Yay awesome roomates :)
I'm off now. Ciao ragazzi.

| While I sit here and wait for my pictures to upload very slowly, I figured i'd try to update quickly (and before my battery dies)
Let's see, the weekend of the 28th of sept I went to Rome and stayed w/ "relatives". I stayed w/ them the entire time and slept at my cousin's house even though she was not there. I had so much fun and I didn't wanna come back to Florence. I mean I did but I wasn't really ready, I needed more time. Gwen and I might go for Thanksgiving. Funny how last year Jenny and I left Rome and went to Greece for T-day and this year i'll be in Rome. :-p The weekend after that Giustina and Ernesto came and we went shopping nearby Florence. I got a bunch of stuff and am very happy about that! I've lost about 18 pounds so new clothes were much needed and still might be needed, but we'll wait... Next weekend I think Caitlin will be here, which will be great to see her, i'm already excited!
Classes are going well, I started my class at the Univ and am taking Italian Grammar and 2 other girls from the group are in it so that'll help if we wanna study together or if one of us misses a class. It's amazing how many students can be put in a small room. People sit on the floor and in the hall, and have to stand, it's CRAZY. The apt is awesome, close to school and close to the center.
Sometimes I miss home but I am not homesick yet. I'm going down to Sicily the weekend of the 26th and can't wait!
Well, gotta go, we're off to dinner.
A la prossima...

| School is going well, I guess. Our class at the Univ of Florence starts soon, i'm not sure if i'm ready for it but i'm hoping it will go well.
Family from Charleston, SC came to visit this weekend, it was too short of a visit. I hadn't seen my mom's cousin since my sister Franny got married 9 yrs ago. And so I finally got to meet some of her family, which was great. Family means a lot to mean and to get to know more is wonderful, especially when they are veeery awesome people. I would love to go visit them and I hope to do that when I eventually get home.
Next week, Friday, we will be going to Ferrara and it's also Gwen's birthday :-p and then after we get back I will be going to some place to spend the weekend with my cousin Giustina, her husband Ernesto and his older daughter, Paola. This weekend I will be going to Rome and i'm SOOOO excited! The weekend of the 19th I think, a friend from Rome, Caitlin, who I met last fall, is coming so i'll spend time w/ her. The weekend of the 26th I will be going down to Sicily
Of course there is always hw to do and not enough time to socialize but that's why i'm here, to study.
I finally started posting pictures, some are awesome and some are just plain old pictures.
Speaking of which, class starts in 15 min so I better get going.
Ciao!

| Where do I even begin...
My 10 days in Sicily were way too short! I needed more time there. I'm so glad Beth came, I had lot of fun. The first 3 days I was there I spent at Francesca's w/ her and her family.
I got to Florence on the 2nd by car w/ my parents. I had orientation all of last week and classes started this week. I had my meeting today where we talked about w/ path to choose and what classes I needed. ..and my paper that i'll have to do of course. The teachers are all amazing and nice but some I'm not sure if i'll get by, but, i'll figure it out. I still need to learn my way around Florence. I know my way to school and to the house...still need to figure out how to get to the center on my own (like where the duomo is) Speaking of Duomo, Last Tues Gwen and I went there to go up to the Duomo and half way up the power went out (there was a storm). So they marked our tickets after we decided to come back down so that we could go up another time. Friday we finally had time to go back up and WOW, it was an experience. The Cupola at St. Peters though was def more interesting!
The apt is REALLY small but it's kinda growing on me. We don't have the orig that we asked for coz of a pipe problem in the bathroom. When it's ready we will be able to see it and then make a choice if we want to move. The bathroom is incredibly small. You walk in and there's the sink on your right, next to that is the shower head, no curtain or anything, and right next to that is the toilet. There really is no room haha. The room is small but we're doing ok. We have a living room (again small) w/ a tv. The kitchen is tiny too but what can ya do.
I'm trying to upload pictures but it's being slow so it'll take me the rest of the week probably to get them up.
I'm going to Rome this weekend, I THINK>I HOPE! Jessica was originally going to come here but I think it's easier if I go there that way I can see everyone! I miss their pasta too, mmmm, I need to eat some! I don't want to impose but they offered, just need to figure out at whose house i'm staying at :-p
Well, that's it really for now. I don't know when i'll update next but when I get there I get there!
A la prossima...
